In 2005 the United States Congress created the Energy Policy Act., a set of laws specifically relating to energy efficiency in ceiling fans and ceiling fan light kits. Beginning January 1, 2007 all fans manufactured must be reversible and have separate controls for fan speeds and lighting. In addition, all ceiling fans with integrated light kits and sold-separate light kits have energy saving light and light socket requirements.

As an overview, you’ll find the following EPACT mandated changes to Emerson ceiling fans and accessories:

1. Odyssey, Raphael and Raphael Tiffany - These products now include a wall control and SW105 receiver. New model numbers denote the EPACT compliant versions: Odyssey (CF2455), Raphael (CF2605) and Raphael Tiffany (CF2680).



2. Fans and light kits can no longer use medium base bulbs - For products manufactured after January 1, 2007, all light sockets are changed to accommodate either candelabra base or E17 intermediate base bulbs, depending on the application. We’ve added E17 bulbs in both frosted and clear, in 40W and 60W to our line for your convenience.
